Diecut? KissCut? Both? What does it all mean?
We’ve had some customers express confusion about the meaning of “Diecut” and “KissCut” so we hope to clarify this with the graphic below.
DIECUT: Custom-shaped stickers. Our cutters cut through the sticker material and the backing material to give your custom sticker a shape that is as unique as the artwork on it!
KISSCUT: Kiss Cuts are light cuts within the border of your stickers. The stickers can be peeled out of the backing material and the backing material remains. Multiple Kiss Cuts on one sticker are usually called a ‘sticker sheet’.

Comparing Kiss-Cut to Die-Cut Stickers
Kiss Cuts are cuts that go only through the vinyl. Making it possible to have multiple cuts on one sticker which appear to be die cut when they are applied to something.
Die Cuts are cuts that go through both the vinyl and sticker backing paper. These are a great way to help your brand StandOut.
In the photo below you’ll notice that the left image is a kiss cut sticker which still has the rectangle backing behind it. However, once the sticker is removed from the backing it appears as if it were die cut. The image on the right shows a die cut that is around the image so there isn’t excess material.

Kiss Cut Stickers VS. Die Cut Stickers
The question we’ve been getting a lot lately is “What is the difference between die cut and kiss cut stickers?”
The answer is quite simple. As you can view below, the photo compares a Kiss Cut Sticker to a Die Cut Sticker.

Kiss Cut Stickers – As you can see on the left in the photo above – a kiss cut sticker is very similar to a die cut sticker. However, the main difference is the sticker backing isn’t cut to the shape of the sticker.
Die Cut Stickers - A Die Cut Sticker is a sticker that is cut to the shape of the sticker. (view the photo example to the right).
I hope this helps.
